Our Pastor

Rev. Crystal DesVignes
Crystal (she/her/hers) is a mother, daughter, preacher, teacher, liturgical dancer, and most importantly child of God.
Raised in Newark, New Jersey; Crystal currently resides in Durham with her two sons.
Crystal is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist church and has served congregations in North Carolina as a pastor since 2017. She was honored to serve Wilson Temple UMC as a pastoral intern through Duke Divinity’s Field education program. Crystal was a member of Wilson Temple when she was affirmed by the congregation to become a certified candidate for ordination.
Crystal holds a Master’s in Political Science from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and a Master’s of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Crystal is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Theology (ThD) at Duke University focusing on prophetic preaching and Womanist social ethics.
She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Her favorite book of the Bible is Revelation (because it’s a love story). She enjoys a good cup of coffee with friends and watching Disney movies with her sons.
She concludes: “In all matters love must be the ethic by which we conduct ourselves… because God is love.”
